Plans for a new V8-powered Lexus supercar appear to be well underway.
The latest update is in the form of a new video shared by Taba Tokyo on X (formerly Twitter) of an apparent 2026 road-going Lexus LFR testing at what looks like Japan's Fuji Speedway.
The car in question appears to be a Lexus-badged variation of the Toyota GR GT3, a next-generation supercar which Toyota says will debut on the European circuit in 2026.

Footage had previously leaked in May showing the camouflaged GR GT3 running laps on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, forcing many in the automotive world to speculate on a possible successor to the Lexus LFA.
The speculation stemmed from comments in 2022 from Toyota Racing Development President David Wilson that there was a link between a GR GT3 and a future Lexus model.

Then in late 2022, images leaked from an apparent Lexus dealer conference in the US showing a Toyota GR GT3 silhouette with a Lexus badge and no rear wing.
With no rear wing, the supercar on the track in the most recent video appears to be that very road-going version, possibly confirming reports from Japanese automotive publication BestCar that a new LFR will be a part of Lexus’ full-time catalogue – unlike the V10 Lexus LFA, of which only 500 were produced.
Judging by earlier videos, a V8 appears to be a sure thing, agreeing with previous reports that Toyota was in development of a twin-turbo V8, which could possibly be a hybrid. BestCar speculates the V8 powertrain could push out around 662kW.

Toyota hasn't confirmed whether a road-going version of the GR GT3 will be coming in 2026 and nor has a Lexus LFR been officially confirmed.
The carmaker is rumoured to be developing a series of sports car, though, including a new MR2, changes to the popular GR86 and even a kei-sized S'FR sports model.
